Job Description

Job Title: Estimator

Department: Estimating

Reports to: Preconstruction Director

Job Summary:

Suntec Concrete is seeking an experienced Estimator to join our preconstruction team in Phoenix, AZ . This role will be responsible for taking off quantities, pricing, and assembling bid packages for commercial concrete projects.

Job Description:

  • Knowledge of estimating and quantity takeoff software
  • Perform quantity concrete takeoffs
  • Review design drawings, specifications, attend pre-bid meetings, and conduct site visits to determine scope
  • Lead and prepare accurate proposals
  • Prepare conceptual estimates
  • Obtain pricing from vendors and subcontractors and maintain accurate database
  • Assemble bid packages and submit pricing
  • Create visual presentations
  • Coordinate with design team on drawing revisions
  • Review construction documents for value engineering
  • Review construction schedules
  • Work with field operations team throughout construction
  • Produce accurate quantity takeoffs and estimates for potential change orders
  • Demonstrated knowledge of building construction, materials, systems, market conditions, and trade practices
  • Develop scope of work for subcontractors
  • Oversee subcontractor selection process
  • Assist project managers in negotiation of contracts, buyouts, change orders, etc
  • Maintain and develop historical data for unit pricing
  • Prepare and price the value engineering items
  • Experience leading Preconstruction meetings
  • Develop and maintain relationships with owners, general contractors, and subcontractors

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Engineering preferred
  • 5+ years experience as a concrete estimator
  • Tekla software experience highly recommended
  • Strong technical knowledge of concrete construction methods and materials
  • Ability to read and interpret structural drawings, technical specifications, and contracts.
  • Excellent math, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented with outstanding organizational abilities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of industry trends, building codes, and cost data
