Site Work Crew Lead – Excavation & Underground Utilities | Ontario, NY (Onsite)

What You’ll Do – Day-to-Day Responsibilities

As a Site Work Crew Lead , you’ll be right in the action operating heavy equipment, installing underground utilities, and supporting your crew to ensure projects stay on track, safe, and efficient. You’ll lead by example and assist with jobsite planning to drive production and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform skilled excavation, grading, and utility installation tasks
• Operate heavy equipment: excavators , dozers , skid steers , loaders , and haul trucks
• Read and interpret construction plans and job scopes
• Maintain safety compliance with OSHA and company policies
• Set up and troubleshoot GPS , laser levels , and pipe laser systems
• Assist project leadership with planning materials, manpower, and scheduling
• Keep the jobsite organized and professional, with proper tool and material management
• Identify potential issues early and make adjustments to keep crews productive
• Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment that emphasizes quality and accountability

Qualifications – What You Bring to the Team

• 5+ years of experience in excavation, civil site work, or underground utilities
• Proficient in using GPS equipment and pipe lasers on active jobsites
• Solid hands-on experience installing storm drainage , sanitary sewer , and water lines
• Strong leadership presence and a proactive mindset
• Excellent communication and a professional, encouraging attitude
• High standards for construction safety , workmanship, and crew morale
• Ability to anticipate project needs and take initiative without being asked
