**Job Title: Sanitation Worker** **Job Description** The Facility Sanitation Worker is responsible for preventative maintenance and ensuring the sanitation facility is tidy and well-maintained. This role involves heavy lifting, groundskeeping, and various cleaning tasks. **Responsibilities** + Perform cleaning and maintenance of the Transfer Station facility, yard areas, and adjacent roadways using brooms, shovels, and non-street-legal facility sweepers. + Inspect assigned work areas to identify potential safety hazards, maintenance needs, or operational concerns and report findings to supervision. + Direct vehicle movement within the Transfer Station and assist heavy equipment operators to maintain safe and efficient traffic flow. + Conduct daily load checks to identify and remove non-approved or prohibited waste materials from incoming loads before processing. + Clean and wash sanitation vehicles and equipment, ensuring safe handling and storage of cleaning materials. + Participate in citywide litter collection, community cleanup programs, and emergency or storm debris removal operations. + Collect, transport, and dispose of solid waste, recyclables, and bulky items in accordance with established procedures and environmental standards. + Operate light-duty trucks, small power tools, and cleaning equipment to maintain cleanliness of pedestrian containers and paved surfaces. + Adhere to all City safety policies, SOPs, and OSHA/Cal-OSHA regulations, using required PPE at all times. + Perform related duties as assigned. **Essential Skills** + 2-3 years of recent experience in housekeeping, janitorial, trash handling, or grounds keeping, preferred. + Must be able to lift 50lbs. + Ability to operate light-duty trucks and small power tools safely. + Knowledge of safety practices and OSHA/Cal-OSHA regulations. + Physical ability to perform manual labor in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions. + Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Experience in sanitation, janitorial duties, housekeeping, general labor, trash collecting, and housekeeping. + Skills in heavy lifting, cleaning, janitorial tasks, sanitizing, and sweeping. **Why Work Here?** This is a long-term open-ended contract role with the potential to become a direct position, providing stability and career growth opportunities. **Work Environment** The work will be primarily outdoors and involves working with trash.
