The Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) will work independently to administer radioligand therapy in a private outpatient setting. This role does not currently involve diagnostic imaging equipment. Clinical protocols are established and followed under the direction of a physician.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer radiopharmaceuticals intravenously in accordance with physician directives for therapeutic purposes.
  • Monitor and record radiation dosages administered and maintain accurate documentation of use and disposal.
  • Prepare and handle radiopharmaceuticals, adhering strictly to safety protocols to minimize radiation exposure.
  • Explain test procedures and safety protocols to patients; provide support throughout the treatment.
  • Perform quality control tests and routine calibration of nuclear medicine equipment.
  • Maintain secure storage and disposal of radioactive materials in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Collect and review patient medical histories to inform diagnostic or therapeutic decisions.
  • Supervise and train students or junior staff when applicable.
  • Collaborate with physicians to review and refine nuclear medicine protocols.
  • Complete administrative tasks including documentation, scanning, emailing, and video conferencing as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) required.
  • Current state licensure (as applicable).
  • BLS certification required.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a nuclear medicine clinical setting preferred.
  • Experience in outpatient or independent practice settings is a plus.

Key Competencies:

  • Proficient in placing intravenous (IV) lines for radiopharmaceutical or therapy administration.
  • Comprehensive understanding of nuclear medicine procedures and radiopharmaceutical handling.
  • Strong knowledge of radiation safety protocols and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills with patients, families, and clinical staff.
  • Attention to detail in documenting dosages, patient data, and procedural notes.
  • Ability to operate and maintain nuclear medicine equipment.
  • Competent in basic computer applications and electronic medical record systems.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
