Lab Assistant – Night Shift (Entry Level)

Apex Systems is currently hiring for a night shift Laboratory Assistant with one of our commercial clients.

Title: Laboratory Assistant

Location: Onsite in Winchester, Virginia

Hours: Night Shift 5:45 PM – 6:00 AM, (2‑2‑3 schedule)

Pay: $12.77 - $15.00 Hourly Rate

Contract Length: 3‑month contract with potential extensions or fulltime conversion based on performance

Qualified candidates will have the following experience and skills:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Basic computer skills (Ability to enter sample information into an LMS (similar to Excel)

Preferred

• 1+ years of experience (6 months minimum acceptable)
• Previous experience in microbiology, laboratory work, or medical/lab‑related environments

What You’ll Do

• Collect and prepare product samples for testing
• Run basic lab tests (pH, weights, packaging checks, shelf‑life evaluations, etc.)
• Verify product quality on the production line
• Keep the lab clean, organized, and audit‑ready
• Support continuous improvement and food safety programs

What You Bring

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
• Ability to work on your feet and lift moderate weight
• Great communication and teamwork skills
• Science or food industry experience is a plus, but not required
