Position Overview:

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Lab Metrology Technician to support their in-house Metrology calibration laboratory and Service teams. This role is responsible for performing calibrations, verifications, and maintenance of laboratory instruments, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and compliance with regulatory standards (ISO 15189, ISO 17025, GMP/GLP, and A2LA T4 In-House Calibration requirements). The ideal candidate brings strong metrology expertise, a quality-first mindset, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform routine and non-routine calibration, verification, and maintenance of lab instruments and equipment (e.g., balances, pipettes, spectrophotometers, temperature/humidity devices).
• Acquire calibration data, gather repeatability data, and assist in creating measurement uncertainty budgets.
• Draft, review, and improve standard operating procedures (SOPs) and preventive maintenance programs.
• Maintain calibration records, certificates, and documentation in compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate with vendors or service providers as needed.
• Support equipment qualification, validation, and periodic review activities.
• Participate in internal and external audits, providing technical expertise and documentation as required.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Quality, R&D, and Operations teams to support laboratory and production needs.
• Advise senior leadership on calibration best practices and champion process improvements.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Technology, Life Sciences, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent technical training/experience).
• 4+ years of experience in calibration/metrology, technical support, field support, or engineering.
• Hands-on experience with laboratory instruments and calibration tools.
• Knowledge of metrological traceability, measurement uncertainty, and statistical analysis.
• Understanding of clinical lab regulations and compliance standards.
• Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Advanced degree or advanced experience in medical device/pharma/biotech regulated environments (ISO 13485, FDA GMP, USDA).
• Experience performing calibration in an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory.
• Familiarity with Guidance to Uncertainty in Measurement (GUM), ISO Guide 99, and A2LA certification requirements.
• Process and workflow mindset.
• Certification in metrology or calibration (e.g., ASQ CCT) is a plus.
