Job Overview:
We are seeking a CAD/GIS Hybrid Technician to join the NIA GIS team supporting a large, fast-paced Network Planning program. This role is ideal for someone who has professional GIS experience and is also comfortable working in drafting/CAD environments. The position supports post-construction fiber documentation, network records updates, and GIS-driven design workflows.
Role & Responsibilities:
• Support the Network Planning Team by documenting and updating post-fiber passes, build completions, and construction records.
• Maintain accurate GIS and CAD-based network documentation as per client and internal standards.
• Update fiber routes, correct network records, and ensure all data is current within the NIA GIS framework.
• Utilize ArcGIS Pro and related tools to analyze, interpret, and update geospatial data.
• Assist with CAD drafting tasks using Revit, AutoCAD, MicroStation, or other drafting tools.
• Interpret network plans, fiber routing documentation, and construction updates to reflect accurate field conditions.
• Collaborate closely with a small (3–4 member) team within a larger Network Planning organization.
• Communicate status updates and proactively raise questions or issues when needed.
Required Qualifications:
• Certification or Associate's/Bachelor’s degree in Drafting, GIS, Engineering Technology, or related field.
• 6+ months of professional GIS experience (workplace experience only).
• Strong knowledge of GIS platforms; ArcGIS Pro preferred.
• Foundational drafting/CAD experience with one or more:
– Revit
– AutoCAD
– MicroStation
– Civil/Electrical drafting software
• Interest in performing both GIS and drafting tasks.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with weekly task expectations.
• Strong communication skills and willingness to ask questions or escalate issues.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in fiber, broadband, telecom, or network infrastructure environments.
• Previous work with fiber routing, telecom mapping, or network documentation.
