Job Description

An established company near Woodridge, IL is seeking a dedicated Innovation Scientist to join their growing team. This role focuses on driving technical advancements and product improvements in bakery and dough-based items. The ideal candidate will be passionate about food science, process development, and bringing new ideas from concept through production.

Location: Woodridge, IL 60517

Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Compensation: $85,000 – $110,000

Work Environment: Fully onsite

Position Overview:

• Develop and refine new and existing bakery products, focusing on dough, bread, and pastry formulations
• Lead product trials, testing, and scale-up efforts to ensure consistent quality and innovation
• Collaborate cross-functionally to streamline processes and improve efficiency
• Research and incorporate emerging industry trends and ingredients
• Maintain comprehensive documentation and technical records
• Support compliance with food safety and regulatory standards
• Participate in sensory evaluations and product quality assessments

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Nutrition, or related field
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in bakery product development or food innovation
• Hands-on experience with dough and bread formulation required
• Knowledge of cGMP and relevant food safety regulations (FDA, USDA)
• Strong analytical and project management skills
• Proficient in standard office software and documentation systems
• Ability to stand, move, and work in lab and production areas as needed
