Director of Golf
Golf course in Delhi, Louisiana is looking for a Director of Golf.

Position Overview:
The purpose of this unclassified position is to oversee all aspects of the golf course operations including the golf shop, turf care operations, and record keeping staff. The director supervises and directs the operation, management, and maintenance of the course.

Worksite Management Job Specification:
• Manages the operations and staff of the course and assigns responsibility for activities of the Department.
• Provides primary supervision of starter marshal volunteers.
• Conducts routine staff meetings.
• Supervises and administers the overall functions of the golf course.
• Administers personnel and budget.
• Manages contracts associated with facility operations.
• Oversees the Office of Risk Management program.
• Enforces the rules and regulations of the Department of Culture, Recreation, and Tourism, Office of State Parks, and Division of Administration.
• Manages Grounds Superintendent to coordinate turf-care practices and course closures along with tournament set-ups.
• Controls for invasive species.
• Sets and organizes tournament operations for the golf course.
• Promotes and encourages participation in the game of golf.
• Coordinates golf clinics with golf course staff.
• Coordinates tournaments and education classes; promotes interest in the use of golf course facilities.
• Supervises and participates in the propagation of grass and other plants.
• Oversees purchases for golf course including resale golf shop items.
• Maintains Class A membership with the PGA.

Personnel Management Job Specification:
• Supervision of the personnel.
• Conducts interviews of prospective employees as directed by the Park Manager.
• Makes recommendations to Park Manager regarding hiring and disciplinary action of the employees.
• Manages personnel actions under the direction of the Park Manager.
• Trains and supervises golf shop staff on daily operations.

Requirements:
Class A Member of the PGA.
Ability to establish effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, public officials, and the general public.
Knowledge of current trends in the golf industry and recreational golfing market, including spending patterns.
Knowledge of turf grass maintenance and other factors that impact a golf course’s playability.
Knowledge of formats and operational/support requirements for golf tournaments and events.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to develop and implement goals, objectives, policies, procedures, work standards, management, and safety controls.

Preferred Qualifications:
Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a head golf professional.
