Role Description

This is an on-site Designer (Fashion) role located at our Hawthorne, CA office. Looking for a highly passionate and creative detail-oriented fashion designer, who will be responsible for designing the full collection – knits and wovens.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop the Michael Stars product lines according to market trends and the Michael Stars vision
  • Research trends and bring in new ideas through competitive shopping; textile shows; reviewing trend services, tear sheets, magazines, trade journals and websites
  • Assist in the development of seasonal color palettes and fabrications 
  • Communicate and work closely with tech designer and patternmakers
  • Attend fittings
  • Partner with tech design and merchandising to develop cost engineering to hit margins and retails
  • Create and maintain design tech packs
  • Meet all deadlines on design calendar
  • Illustrator and free-hand flat sketching
  • Research trims, fabrics and sourcing
  • Make product presentations to internal team members
  • Design specials outside of seasonal collections
  • Other related duties as required

Qualifications:

  • BA Degree from Art and Design College
  • Creative visionary with a minimum of 5 years’ design experience within the contemporary market
  • Proficient with Microsoft office, Illustrator, and Photoshop
  • Ability to handle multi-faceted projects with strong follow through
  • Able to work independently, as well as collaborate as a team player
