Required Skills & Experience

• High school degree or GED
• 2+ years of experience working on large industrial construction projects such as datacenters, semiconductor fabs, battery plants, etc.
• Projects with total budgets in the $100Ms to $1B+.
• Experienced with construction cost controls such as maintaining job cost reports, change management, RFIs, budgets, commitments, yet to buys, contingencies, spend, bid packages, field orders, category management, cost authorization packages and quantities of materials reports.
• Experienced with construction PM software such as Procore and Smartsheets.

Job Description

An Insight Global customer is looking to hire a cost engineer to join their team. The customer is actively supporting the construction and commissioning of a large, high-tech, industrial manufacturing project in the SE Phoenix metro area. This person would report to the cost manager and also work closely with construction managers to process, manage and follow up on change orders and RFIs. The person in this role can expect to work through the company's software tools like Procore and Smartsheets to conduct general overview of change orders by ensuring that the scope matches the RFI. Then perform material, labor, equipment and profit breakouts, assign cost codes, confirm budget impacts and prepare the changes for the internal approval process. There may also be interactions with the customer's end client and subcontractors to respond to requests and confirm information accuracy. This is a six month contract, but there is the possibility for conversion or extension at the end of the initial engagement.
