We are seeking a highly skilled Quality Control Inspector/CMM Programmer with strong expertise in Zeiss Calypso programming to join our aerospace manufacturing team. This role is responsible for developing and optimizing CMM programs for first article (FAI), in-process, and final inspection , while ensuring all materials and finished products conform to customer specifications, aerospace standards, and company requirements . The ideal candidate is hands-on with inspection but excels at CMM programming and GD&T interpretation to support precision manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

CMM Programming & Inspection

  • Develop, maintain, and optimize CMM programs using Zeiss Calypso for FAI, in-process, and final inspections.
  • Perform AS9102 First Article Inspections and generate supporting documentation.
  • Execute parametric/PCM programming strategies to improve efficiency and repeatability.
  • Provide feedback on part conformance, dimensional accuracy, and potential manufacturing issues.

Quality Control & Compliance

  • Understand and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T callouts.
  • Document inspection results accurately in reports and databases.
  • Maintain calibration of all quality control equipment.
  • Document and process NCRs , assist in root cause analysis, and communicate non-conformities.
  • Ensure compliance with company Quality Policy, ITAR procedures, and AS9100 standards .

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Partner with machinists, engineers, and management to resolve quality issues.
  • Communicate quality and compliance concerns with urgency.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance inspection methods and reduce cycle time.
  • Provide support across manufacturing and quality functions as needed.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 8 years of inspection and/or precision manufacturing experience.
  • Strong proficiency in Zeiss Calypso CMM programming .
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and GD&T (ASME Y14.5).
  • Strong working knowledge of precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, height gages, indicators, thread gages).
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced aerospace manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to communicate inspection results clearly to machinists, engineers, and quality teams.
  • Strong math skills, including ability to calculate tolerances, fractions, ratios, and proportions.
  • Must be able to lift/move up to 50 pounds occasionally and meet required vision standards.

Preferred:

  • Experience with Zeiss PiWeb reporting.
  • Familiarity with AS9102 FAI requirements .
  • Prior work in AS9100 or ISO 9001 certified environments .
  • Experience training or mentoring others in CMM operation and programming.
