Automation Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer with a strong mechanical or manufacturing engineering background to join our growing medical device manufacturing team. This role will focus on optimizing and sustaining high-speed automated production equipment in a highly regulated environment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with mechanical systems, automation equipment, and process improvements rather than software or controls programming.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide technical support and mechanical optimization for existing automated equipment used in medical device production.
• Lead sustaining engineering projects to improve equipment reliability, throughput, and overall mechanical performance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues on high-speed automated machinery, including robotic and dispensing systems.
• Support conversion projects involving reel-to-reel and other high-speed manufacturing processes with a focus on mechanical integration and process flow.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Manufacturing, Quality, and Maintenance) to implement mechanical process improvements and corrective actions.
• Work closely with vendors and equipment manufacturers on mechanical design improvements and upgrades.
• Document all equipment changes and improvements in compliance with FDA and ISO 13485 regulatory requirements.
• Provide mechanical engineering input for new automation initiatives and equipment selections to enhance manufacturing efficiency and scalability.
